Directions

Should you ever find yourself near our back door to New England, you are most welcome to visit and pray with us or simply to have some quiet time for reflection. The Nuns are located about 2 miles east of the village of Cambridge while the Monks are about 4 miles further east. New Skete is located approximately 45 miles northeast of Albany, New York, and approximately 20 miles northwest of Bennington, Vermont in the gentle and lovely Taconic Mountains, which geologically sideswipe the Green Mountains of Vermont, just north of the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts.

Visiting Hours

Liturgical Services
Monastery services are open to visitors. View our calendar for a detailed schedule of services and events.
There are no public services on Mondays.

Gift Shops
The Nuns’ gift shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, 12:30-4 pm. Cheesecakes are available in the freezer in the front entrance foyer, 8 am to 8 pm every day.

The Monks’ gift shop is open Tuesday through Saturday, 12:30-4pm, and on Sunday by chance. (Note: if door is locked during shop hours Tues-Sun please ring the Gift Shop doorbell for help.) Also, by appointment: call 518-677-3928 x203. Closed Monday.

Visiting the Churches and Grounds
The Holy Wisdom and Transfiguration Temples and surrounding grounds, as well as the Companions’ Meditation Garden, are open Tuesday through Sunday. The grounds are closed during community retreat times (mid-August through mid-September, and our mid-winter retreat, usually in February).

Guided Visits
The Temples and the Nuns’ bakery are possible touring opportunities for religious, school or senior groups with advance notice. Please fill out our contact form to arrange a guided visit.

Visitors are generally not permitted in the dog kennels due to health precautions.
